Do you understand the point of being gay?

When you are gay you are attracted to the same sex. A man wants a man and a woman wants a woman. Why wouldn't a lesbian just get a man instead of a butch lesbian. Why wouldn't a gay guy get a woman instead of a fem guy? When gays do this I am like whats the point? Just be straight then.
