Can a cats attention toward someone change because of them getting surgery?

My cat recently got surgery (spade) and since then its mood change before she would usually only give attention to my brother because he’s the one who took care of her when we found her. Now she’s running around and giving attention to everyone she sees. Can my cat’s attitude change because of the surgery?
